It is the third day of camp - you know....feel the pain. After two tough days, the third is always hard. Today we started with the Tilt table. It is a device that gets your body and heart use to gravity, as it is when it stands. It is pretty cool, and we got to 60 degrees. I know, does not sound like much, but it really is great. Then we spent about 30 minutes on a massage. Don't get too excited. It is not the OOOOOHHHH kind, but more like the OUUCCHH kind. In fact, her friend Sara from Texarkana had given her a toy bat to take to GA, and she actually broke it when she gripped it while getting rubbed down. But as usual, when hit by a pitch, she just gritted her teeth and stepped back in the batters box.
We also got to get in the new chair. It weighs about 45 lbs, loaded with her backpack. She wheeled all the way to the basement cafeteria, and back. Then she went outside. It is the first real time she has been out since the night of the accident. The sunshine touched her face and she closed her eyes as if God himself had reached down and kissed her.
We had a "medical conf" with one of the Dr's here. She is really great. She first explained that they as Dr's do not know much about the spinal cord. Then she said that most of it will depend on her determination and hardwork. After seeing the softball pictures -- she said that it looked like Jaque was going to do great. Then she said, "Jaque, just how long have you been here." When Jaque told her that we arrived on the second floor on Friday of last week, she just smiled. She said that she was already ahead of the game. She reassured her that most do not get in the good chairs for a few weeks, and that she was progressing very well. Upon leaving, she said that one of the OT's had a daughter that played fastpitch softball and is learning to pitch. She asked Jaque if she would mind meeting her and teaching her a few things.
AIN'T GOD GREAT. Here we are in Atlanta and as GOD is healing Jaque, she will soon be able to use her strengths to help someone else.
Tonight, instead of going to bed early, she asked if we could just go out and around one more time. We checked out the weight room -- man -- coach and Mr Wall would droool.
I hope you all know that the progress we have made and the great attitude and outlook she has is due to two things: # 1 GOD, and # 2 all of you. Your prayers and thoughts have blessed us all so much.
Chris took like 100 pictures today, and will try and get some posted so you can see how great she is looking.
Love and Miss you all back home - Carol & Jaque

Jaque - I'm proud of you! I knew you would blow them all away up there and that you would be ahead of where they "thought" you would be from one day to the next. You keep it up, we can say that we are with you and we are in thought - but the hard stuff is up to you. You've always been strong, it's what has brought you this far, this fast. Keep it up! You, your Mom, your Dad, you're all in my thoughts EVERY day! We ALL (David, John David, Jessie)try to keep up with you every day - we look forward to every crumb of info! Take care, rest when you need it, We Love You All!
Hey Jaque. I am an occupational therapist in Dallas. I currently work in chronic pain management but have worked rehab too. I am sure you will do great. Just rememember that you get out of it what you put in it! My daughter (Chelsea) is 8 and plays fastpitch. She is a 2nd baseman (and shortstop sometimes) on a 10u team here in Arlington TX. She sent you her picture and a get well card. Did you get it? Glad to see you are doing so well. We will continue to read your blog and keep up with your progress. Maybe Chelsea can meet you some day. Good luck! You are in our prayers! Evonne
